Key takeaways
  • Troup County Board of Commissioners approved construction of Fire Station 15, expected to open late 2027.
  • New three-bay station at Burkes Chapel and Whitesville Roads will expand fire protection in southern county.

The Troup County Board of Commissioners has approved the construction of Fire Station 15, marking another step toward expanding fire protection and emergency response services in the county.

The approval came during the Board’s October 20 meeting. The new fire station will be built at the intersection of Burkes Chapel Road and Whitesville Road in Troup County.

In July, commissioners approved the purchase of approximately 2.2 acres of land for the project, along with the design of the facility. With construction now approved, Fire Station 15 is expected to become operational by late 2027.

The new station will feature three bays, following the same design as Fire Station 14, which was recently constructed on Roanoke Road.

According to county officials, the addition will expand the Troup County Fire Department’s presence in rural areas, improve fire protection coverage and strengthen emergency response capabilities for residents in the southern portion of the county.

“The construction of Fire Station 15 represents the Board of Commissioners’ continued commitment to enhancing fire protection and public safety services throughout Troup County,” Public Safety Director Zac Steele said. “By expanding our coverage and service delivery areas, we are strengthening our fire and rescue capabilities and ensuring we continue to meet the needs of our community.”

The project is part of Troup County’s ongoing investment in public safety infrastructure, with the goal of providing dependable fire and emergency services to residents throughout the county.

Fire Station 15 is expected to be operational by late 2027.
