Troup County fire leaves one dead

CNAW Newsroom —
Troup County fire leaves one dead

A Troup County house fire left one resident dead and an investigation is now underway.

The fire broke out at a home in the 700 block of Shoemaker Road in the county around 7 p.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2026.

The home was heavily involved in fire when crews arrived on scene. Fire officials say they were advised by a family member on scene that an adult male was believed to be home at the time of the blaze.

Fire suppression and search efforts were initiated immediately, which led to the discovery of one deceased individual.

The incident remains under active investigation by the Troup County Fire Marshal’s Office.

Fire investigators are working in coordination with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office Investigators and the Georgia State Fire Marshal’s Office to determine the origin and cause of the fire.
