Original story: Troup County government officials have taken action after a payroll discrepancy was reported in late April.

The discrepancy was reported to Troup County Management on April 29, 2025, and management immediately took action by conducting an internal investigation and consulting with the District Attorney’s office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

According to Eric Mosley, the county manager, the investigation led to the termination of a Payroll & Benefits Generalist on Wednesday, May 7, 2025.

“Troup County is also conducting a thorough review of its payroll and internal control procedures and has implemented interim safeguards to ensure continued financial accuracy and protection of public funds,” Mosley added. “The County is committed to transparency and accountability and will continue cooperating fully with the GBI’s ongoing investigation.”

The investigation remains ongoing by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
