Two people dressed in dinosaur costumes were arrested on Halloween after a dispute between customers at a Publix on Macon Road escalated into an alleged assault involving a firearm, according to the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to the store on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2026, after receiving a report that a customer had pulled a firearm on another customer.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies were told the suspects were still inside the store and were dressed in dinosaur costumes.
The male suspect, identified as Scott Harrison, was detained, and deputies recovered a firearm from his person. The female suspect, identified as Kayleigh Welch-Harrison, was also detained.
Investigators later reviewed surveillance footage of the incident, which reportedly showed a verbal altercation between the victim and the two suspects at the self-checkout lanes over who was next in line.
After the two suspects finished checking out, the female suspect allegedly turned around and reignited the argument with the victim.
The Sheriff’s Office said the male suspect then pushed the female suspect aside, pulled out a firearm and pointed it at the victim. He allegedly struck the victim in the neck and face area with the firearm.
An off-duty correctional officer intervened and separated the individuals until deputies arrived, according to authorities.
Scott Harrison was arrested and charged with felony aggravated assault, simple battery, reckless conduct, disorderly conduct, and brandishing a firearm.
Kayleigh Welch-Harrison was charged with disorderly conduct.
Both suspects were transported to the Muscogee County Jail without incident, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The victim was treated at the scene by Columbus Fire and EMS.
