Auburn Police have arrested two individuals in connection with a shooting that occurred during the early morning hours of June 8, 2025, leaving one man injured.

According to the Auburn Police Department, officers responded to reports of gunfire near the 4000 block of Moores Mill Road. Upon arrival, officers located a 33-year-old male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. First responders rendered immediate medical assistance before the victim was transported to a local hospital. Authorities report that the victim remains in stable condition.

Following an investigation, Auburn Police identified Rashound Eric Tremaine Sawyer, 28, of Tifton, Georgia, and Carmella Star Spinks, 26, of Auburn, Alabama, as suspects in the case. Both were taken into custody and charged with attempted murder. Sawyer faces an additional charge of certain persons forbidden to possess a firearm, indicating he was legally prohibited from having a firearm at the time of the incident.

Investigators say that the victim was acquainted with at least one of the suspects, though the exact nature of their relationship has not been disclosed.

Sawyer and Spinks were transported to the Lee County Jail following their arrests. Sawyer is currently being held without bond, pending further judicial proceedings. Spinks is being held on a $75,000 bond.

The investigation remains ongoing.
