Salem Volunteer Fire Department crews responded to two separate vehicle crashes Saturday morning in Lee County, including one that left a person injured.

According to the Salem Volunteer Fire Department, at approximately 7:27 a.m., Engine 511, Rescue 510 and four volunteers were dispatched to the 8000 block of Alabama Highway 169 for a reported vehicle crash.

Firefighters arrived to find two vehicles involved in the collision, with one person injured. The westbound lane of Alabama Highway 169 was closed while emergency crews worked at the scene.

The injured person was treated and transported by East Alabama EMS. The Lee County Sheriff's Office provided traffic control, while the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency handled the crash report.

The scene was cleared at approximately 8:45 a.m.

Later, at approximately 8:25 a.m., Salem firefighters were dispatched to the intersection of U.S. Highway 280 and Lee Road 153 for another reported crash.

Firefighters found a single vehicle had lost control, left the roadway and struck a sign.

East Alabama EMS evaluated the driver, who refused transport. ALEA responded to investigate and complete the crash report.

No additional injuries were reported in the second crash.
