Two LaGrange College baseball players, one other man killed in head-on crash in Troup County

CNAW Newsroom —
Two LaGrange College baseball players, one other man killed in head-on crash in Troup County

A tragic ending to what was supposed to be a fun night for the Troup County community after a head-on crash between two vehicles occurred late Saturday night.

Troup County Sheriff’s Office, Georgia State Patrol, Troup County Fire, AMR, West Point Fire Department, Lanett Fire and EMS, and LaGrange Police Department were dispatched to the 3700 block of Roanoke Road where they found two vehicles – a truck and a Honda Accord – with extensive damage and 3 people with severe injuries.

Two of the three people who were injured were pronounced deceased on scene. Troup County Coroner Erin Hackley released the identity of the two as 19-year-old Jacob Brown of Duluth, Georgia, and 19-year-old Stephen Bartolotta, of Palm City, Florida. The two are both LaGrange College baseball players, who had just won their conference championship game 10-7 against North Carolina Wesleyan hours prior. The baseball team announced 15 hours ago that due to the win, they would advance to the NCAA Div III national tourney.

The third person with severe injuries was transported to a nearby hospital, where they later passed away. The person was identified as 24-year-old Rico Dunn of Lagrange, Georgia. Troup County Chief Deputy Coroner Amy Sheppard was called to the hospital.

Georgia State Patrol is still investigating.
