CNAW Newsroom —
Two LaGrange people trying to retrieve stolen vehicle shot at by suspect

The discovery of a person’s stolen vehicle ended in gunfire in LaGrange on Thursday, June 16th.

LaGrange patrol officers were dispatched to 900 Norwood Drive on  June 16, 2022, at approximately 1:15 P.M. for reports of shots being fired. “Upon arrival Officers made contact with Kwesi Dowell who advised that shots were fired between him and male #1 victim over a stolen vehicle,” police said. “At that time Officers had also made contact with male #1 victim at the LaGrange Police Department.”

The Criminal Investigations Section of the Police Department took over the investigation where it was later determined that the two people responded to Norwood Drive in regards to possibly locating the victim’s stolen vehicle.

However, during his contact with Kwesi Dowell, Dowell pulled his firearm pointing it at the two victims.

The two victims retreated toward their vehicle at which time Dowell begun shooting at the victims. No one was injured in this incident and warrants were obtained for Dowell for two counts of Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Firearm by a convicted felon. Dowell has not been arrested on the above warrants.

If anyone has any information about this incident, please contact the LaGrange Police Department at 706 883-2603 or Troup County Crime Stoppers at 706 812-1000.
