Key takeaways
  • Two men arrested for September Auburn home invasion where suspects posed as police, robbed victims at gunpoint.
  • Suspects fled state; located in Washington and California using license plate reader technology, now awaiting extradition.

Two men have been arrested in connection with an alleged home invasion and robbery in Auburn earlier this month, according to the Auburn Police Department.

On Sept. 28, 2026, the United States Marshals Service arrested 41-year-old Zealand Jamar Adams of Kent, Washington. Adams faces four counts of first-degree burglary, four counts of first-degree robbery, two counts of unlawful imprisonment and one count of impersonating a peace officer.

Later that same day, U.S. Marshals arrested 39-year-old Ramiro Vasquez of Chico, California. Vasquez faces the same charges: four counts of first-degree burglary, four counts of first-degree robbery, two counts of unlawful imprisonment and one count of impersonating a peace officer.

The arrests stem from an incident in the 1300 block of East University Drive during the early morning hours of Sept. 3.

According to APD, officers responded to a residence following a report of a robbery. Investigators say the suspects allegedly entered the victims' residence while posing as law enforcement officers, held the victims at gunpoint and stole valuables.

Following the investigation, Adams and Vasquez were identified as suspects.

APD said Automated License Plate Reader technology was used to identify the suspects' rental vehicle and confirm that it had traveled out of Alabama.

Warrants were subsequently obtained for Adams and Vasquez.

Adams was located in Seattle, Washington, where he was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service. Vasquez was located shortly afterward in Chico, California, and was also taken into custody by U.S. Marshals.

Both men were arrested without incident and booked into local jails. They are currently awaiting extradition to Alabama.

The charges are allegations, and Adams and Vasquez are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
