CNAW Newsroom —

Two people, including a suspect, were injured in a Phenix City apartment complex shooting.

The shooting occurred around 8:25 p.m. on January 14, 2026, in the 1300 block of 28th Avenue, at Caribe Apartments.

Officers responded to the scene and found 24-year-old Trametrius Daniels of Phenix City, Alabama, with a gunshot wound to the leg. Daniels was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

As officials with the police department’s criminal investigations division began an investigation, a suspect was quickly developed. The suspect, identified as 26-year-old Jaquan Jones of Phenix City, showed up at a Columbus hospital suffering from a gunshot wound.

Jones was treated and released, then taken into custody and transported to the Muscogee County Jail on attempted murder warrants related to a separate shooting, according to police.

Jones will face additional attempted murder warrants in connection with last night’s incident.

Investigators were seen marking evidence using evidence markers and taking photographs of blood and other evidence in a nearby embankment.

This case remains under investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Investigator Doleman at (334) 448-2796.
