Warrants signed after Montgomery Riverfront brawl, Mayor says

CNAW Newsroom —
Warrants signed after Montgomery Riverfront brawl, Mayor says

Montgomery police remain investigating the viral brawl incident which occurred on Saturday, August 5, 2023.

City of Montgomery Mayor Steven L. Reed released a statement regarding the incident on Saturday.

“Last night, the Montgomery Police Department acted swiftly to detain several reckless individuals for attacking a man who was doing his job,” Mayor Reed said. “This was an unfortunate incident which never should have occurred.”

“As our police department investigates these intolerable actions, we should not become desensitized to violence of any kind in our community,” Mayor Reed added. “Those who choose violent actions will be held accountable by our criminal justice system.”

Authorities have confirmed warrants have been signed. It’s unclear how many arrests have been made, or if anyone was seriously injured in the brawl. For more information that CNAW wasn’t able to obtain regarding the incident, click here.
