Welfare check in Lee County leads to discovery of human remains

CNAW Newsroom —
Welfare check in Lee County leads to discovery of human remains

Human remains were discovered in Lee County following a welfare check.

The remains were discovered by Lee County deputies in the 200 block of Lee Road 205, after the sheriff’s office received a welfare check call by a family member around 8 A.M. CST on December 2, 2025.

The caller told officials they had not had contact with individual for over 2 months, according to Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones.

The remains, which were found in the front yard of the Lee Road 205 home, are believed to be of an adult male.

“The victim appeared to have been there for several months,” according to authorities.

Lee County Sheriff’s Office Investigators could not determine the identity of the person or if there was any type of foul play at that time due to decomposition.

The remains will be taken to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for a postmortem examination to determine more information.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the Lee County Sheriff’s Office at 334-749-5651 or Central Alabama Crime Stoppers at 334-215-STOP (7867).
