A 69-year-old woman has died following a head-on crash at a busy north Columbus intersection Wednesday afternoon.

The crash happened around 11:22 a.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, near the entrance to the Burger King at the intersection of North Lake Parkway and Veterans Parkway.

According to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan, a vehicle crossed the center line on North Lake Parkway and collided head-on with another vehicle.

A nearby business employee told CNAW2News they heard a loud crash and immediately called 911 after witnessing the aftermath of the collision.

Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan identified the victim as Eileen Todd, 69, of Columbus. Bryan said Todd was a passenger in one of the vehicles involved in the crash.

She was transported to Piedmont Columbus Regional, where she was pronounced dead at 12:24 p.m. from blunt force trauma sustained in the collision.

According to Bryan, Todd was wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash. Her son, who was driving the vehicle she was riding in, was not injured.

An autopsy has been scheduled.

The Columbus Police Department’s Motor Squad is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash, including what caused the other vehicle to cross the center line.

Anyone with information about the crash is encouraged to contact police.
