A family domestic incident in north Columbus resulted in the death of a woman, her son’s suicide, and injuries to a grandmother.

The incident was discovered in the late morning hours of Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2026, in the 3600 block of Grier Avenue, near the Columbus Airport. Police officers, crime scene investigators and violent crimes detectives responded to the scene, along with officials with the Muscogee County Coroner’s Office.

Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan said 52-year-old Rachel Savage was pronounced dead from a homicide. Her son, identified as 29-year-old Adam Savage, was pronounced dead from a suicide.

The son’s grandmother was transported to Piedmont Columbus Regional Midtown campus emergency room with a gunshot wound. Her condition is currently unknown.

Investigators were seen walking around the property, taking photographs, and discussing with officials. Animal control officers with the Paws Humane Society’s Animal Services Division were also spotted on scene.

This is the first homicide of 2026, and the first homicide since November of 2025. Anyone with information is asked to contact Columbus Police Department. The investigation remains ongoing.
