When will it rain in Columbus GA this week?
Rain and thunderstorms move into Columbus and the rest of the Chattahoochee Valley on Wednesday, November 4, with a 89 percent chance in Columbus and no severe weather expected, before much cooler air arrives for the weekend.

Anyone out on the RiverWalk in Columbus and Phenix City on Monday afternoon walked into a steady east wind and air that felt closer to early October than November. Columbus Airport reached 78 degrees, 5 above the normal high of 73 for the date, and the morning low of 58 was 8 degrees above normal. Tuesday goes a notch warmer still, near 81 in Columbus, with clouds thickening through the day.
The change shows up Wednesday. Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Peachtree City say showers and thunderstorms will increase in coverage that day, and they are not expecting severe weather or flooding. Their colleagues in Birmingham put the severe threat as low but note that heavy downpours could cause localized flooding.
The reason the rain hangs around is the cool, heavy air already banked in at the surface across Georgia under high pressure. That shallow pool of cool air resists the front coming in from Alabama, so the boundary slows to a crawl and the rain gets a long, slow run at us. Peachtree City expects totals in the 1 to 2 inch range across a good portion of north and central Georgia from Wednesday morning into Thursday morning. In Columbus the rain chance Wednesday is 89 percent with a high near 80.
Behind it, the air finally turns. Thursday clears to mostly sunny after a morning shower chance, then Columbus drops to 49 Friday morning, 45 Saturday morning and 44 Sunday morning. Birmingham's own summary is blunt: get the jackets ready, with weekend lows in the 40s and maybe a few readings in the upper 30s.
For the year, Columbus has collected 43.64 inches of rain against a normal of 40.4 inches by this date, running about 3 inches ahead, with nothing yet recorded in November. Wednesday is the single wet day on the seven-day forecast, which makes Tuesday and the whole weekend the windows for anything that needs dry ground.
