An officer involved shooting is under investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigations.
The investigation began when an officer with Columbus Police was investigating a possible stolen vehicle on Riverland Drive. While the officer was investigating, the driver of the possible stolen vehicle drove toward the officer leading to the officer to fire their weapon. The persons inside were still able to flee.
Sources tell News 2, the persons in the car showed up to Piedmont Columbus Regional with gunshot wounds and police were alerted. We know at least 2 people were injured by the gunfire, and at least one of them is stable. The officer who fired their weapon has been placed on administrative leave.
