A murder investigation is underway tonight in Opelika after a 37-year-old man was found shot on Morgan Avenue.

The man was found shot in the roadway around 6:42 PM on February 8th in the 900 block of Morgan Avenue.

Lee County Coroner Bill Harris arrived on scene and pronounced the victim, identified as 37-year-old Jela Shermarke Marshall, deceased.

This case remains under investigation by the Opelika Police Department.
