A late Saturday night into early Sunday morning motor vehicle accident in Troup County has left two people dead.
The accident, which only involved one vehicle, occurred on Hamilton Road at the bridge, which is currently under construction since January 23rd. CNAW has confirmed they drove through the site for about 100 yards and unfortunately crashed into an excavator.
CNAW was told by authorities that a homeowner in the area reported hearing a loud noise about 10 P.M. but thought it might be a tree falling due to the weather conditions. When they woke up this morning, they saw the wrecked vehicle.
Troup County Chief Deputy Coroner Amy Sheppard identified the victims as 57-year-old Alvin Passmore Jr. and 52-year-old Jerry Lee Tucker. Both are from Columbus, Georgia and their families have been notified.
