A deadly house fire in Phenix City is under investigation.

The fire occurred at 840 16th Avenue in the city at around 1:20 A.M. on Thursday, March 2, 2023.

Russell County Coroner Arthur Sumbry Jr. confirmed to CNAW2NEWS.com, a male in his 60’s, identified as Carl O Lewis, was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:31 A.M..

His body will be sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science in Montgomery, Alabama for an autopsy.
