Authorities release new details in deadly Tuesday night shooting on Rigdon Road in Columbus

A Columbus man, who was out on bond in the manslaughter death of Sara Holtrop case, is dead after being shot late Tuesday night, authorities say.

Columbus police responded to the intersection of 10th Street at Rigdon Road on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, during the evening hours. The victim, later identified as 23-year-old Elijah Farral, was pronounced dead at 9:05 P.M. in the emergency room of Piedmont Columbus Regional, according to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan.

Farral was arrested back in 2021 on an involuntary manslaughter and reckless conduct charge connected to Sara Holtrop’s death. Holtrop was found with a gunshot wound at a Carmel Drive home on February 10, 2021. She was pronounced dead at 7:47 P.M. at the hospital.

Violent Crimes investigators are investigating Farral’s death, while Farral’s body is being sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigations for an autopsy.
