Columbus police have charged the parents of the death of an infant.
The investigation began by the Special Victims Unit on September 27, 2024, after officers responded to the 4300 block of Rosemont Drive regarding a deceased 8-month-old infant.
“Detectives executed a search warrant on the residence and learned that the infant had been placed on an angled mattress on a love seat, with no safety measures in place to prevent the infant from rolling off and becoming wedged between the mattress and couch cushions,” police said.

Following the investigation, on November 8, 2024, arrest warrants were obtained for the infant’s parents, Kiara Davis, 27, and Miguel Badillo, 24. Both were taken into custody on November 13, 2024, and transported to the Muscogee County Jail.
They are both charged with murder in the second degree, cruelty to children, and possession of drug-related objects.
