A serious Troup County crash that occurred on Mother’s Day is under investigation by state troopers.

The crash on May 11, 2025, shortly before 1:30 P.M. on Interstate 85 NB near MM 24, involving a 2007 Lexus ES350, that had left the road to the left, overcorrected, and left the roadway to the right before striking a stump.

According to Georgia State Patrol, a toddler was ejected from the vehicle and was later transported to West Georgia Regional Hospital for serious injuries. Three other passengers from the vehicle were transported to Columbus for medical treatment.

State patrol has confirmed the driver, Apreschal Shantez Rembert, age 34, of Decatur, GA, was charged with serious injury by vehicle, DUI, and other charges.
