Columbus Police are preparing for two scheduled protests set to take place on Saturday, June 14, 2025, as part of a larger nationwide wave of demonstrations. The events, organized under the “No Kings” banner, are scheduled between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. in the 900 and 1300 blocks of Broadway.

The protests are being organized by the Columbus GA Indivisibles and Phenix City AL Indivisibles, with support from ColGay Pride and individuals reportedly affiliated with Antifa from Florida. Officials believe these events are part of a coordinated national effort, with reports indicating more than 1,800 similar demonstrations planned across the country in response to recent high-profile incidents.

Columbus Police Department, in coordination with local, state, and federal partners, will have a visible presence throughout the Uptown area to ensure public safety, manage crowds, and protect the rights of those engaging in peaceful protest.

“We’re fully prepared for the weekend ahead,” said Columbus Police Chief Stoney Mathis. “We welcome peaceful demonstrations and fully support the right to free speech. But we also have a responsibility to protect our community, and we will not allow violence or disorder to overshadow the events or endanger the public.”

Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr also addressed the upcoming protests earlier this week, emphasizing the state’s stance against violence. “Protesters use words. Rioters use violence. There is no gray area,” Carr said. He reminded the public that in Georgia, individuals who engage in violence with the intent to alter public policy can face Domestic Terrorism charges, punishable by five to 35 years in prison.

City officials are encouraging all participants and visitors to act responsibly, follow the law, and help ensure that Columbus remains a safe and enjoyable place for all.
