An arrest warrant has been issued for a man authorities say is responsible for a fatal dog attack that occurred last week in LaGrange.

The LaGrange Police Department has identified Derrick Parker as the suspect in connection with the July 11 incident that resulted in the death of 60-year-old Theresa Patterson. Investigators with the department’s Criminal Investigations Division issued warrants on Tuesday, July 15, after determining Parker was the owner of the dogs involved.

On the morning of July 11, at approximately 11:11 a.m., officers responded to a 911 call reporting a person being attacked by dogs near the intersection of Swanson Street and Juniper Street. Upon arrival, officers found Patterson being mauled by two large dogs in the roadway. Officers intervened to stop the attack and immediately began rendering aid.
Emergency medical responders from AMR transported Patterson to WellStar West Georgia Medical Center, where she later died from her injuries.
Following days of investigation, Parker is now wanted on charges of Involuntary Manslaughter, Reckless Conduct, and Dog Running at Large. Police have conducted searches at several locations in both LaGrange and North Georgia, but Parker’s whereabouts remain unknown.
Authorities are urging anyone with information on Parker’s location to contact the LaGrange Police Department, Troup County CrimeStoppers, or submit a tip anonymously through Tip411.
The investigation remains ongoing.
