Amazon facility shooter identified as 22-year-old Columbus man, coroner confirms

Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan identified the Columbus Amazon facility shooter who died by suicide.

Gunfire erupted shortly before 4 A.M. on Monday, September 22, 2025, outside of the Amazon Fulfillment Center, located in the 5800 block Osceola Ct.

Multiple windows in the associate entrance of the 90,000-square-foot warehouse were damaged in the shooting.

Following the gunfire, the shooter walked a short distance away, where responding officers confronted him.

The shooter brandished a firearm, leading to a brief standoff. The incident ended when the suspect died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The shooter, identified as 22-year-old Mylen Belyue, of Columbus, was pronounced dead by the Muscogee County Coroner’s Office at 6:45 A.M. Belyue died by suicide.

Thankfully, no injuries occurred during the gunfire.

The warehouse opened in December 2024 and functions as a “late-mile” hub where packages are sent from larger distribution centers to be loaded into delivery trucks for direct transport to customers.

At the time of its 2024 opening, the warehouse created 100 full-time and part-time jobs, including more than 100 driver opportunities.

This is the second workplace shooting this month in the city. On September 3rd, a man was shot and killed outside of Aludyne-Columbus Foundry.

The investigation into what led up to the Amazon shooting is being conducted by the Columbus Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit.
