Forced entry found at Brookstone home; homicide investigation underway

Police say signs of forced entry was discovered at the Brookstone home where a homicide victim was located.

The homicide was discovered around 8:16 P.M. when police responded to a possible burglary st a home in the 6300 block of Brookstone Boulevard.

The homicide victim was identified as 65-year-old Norman Lane. Lane was pronounced dead on scene from gunshot wounds from a possible shotgun, according to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan.

Bryan says Lane’s handgun was found at the scene.

Police say during their investigation they located signs of forced entry into the home. Bryan said it appears the incident is a possible home invasion turned deadly.

The Violent Crimes Unit was called to the scene to take lead on the investigation.

The investigation by the Columbus Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit remains active.
