A second arrest has been made in an Auburn shooting.
The shooting occurred on May 25, 2025, in the 1600 block of Opelika Road.
The shooting left a 20-year-old male with a gunshot wound. The victim received treatment for the serious, but non-life-threatening injury and was released from hospital care.
Following an investigation, a LaFayette 17-year-old was arrested on July 9, 2025. The investigation later determined a second suspect was involved.
“Evidentiary developments identified an 18-year-old person of interest as the additional suspect in October, and an arrest warrant for assault first degree was obtained,” police said.
The Alabama Bureau of Pardons and Paroles officers located the 18-year-old suspect in Chambers County, Alabama on Oct. 16 and arrested the suspect in obedience to the warrant.
Both suspects were charged as adults and transported to the Lee County Jail ($50,000 bond).
Editor’s Note: Auburn Police did not release the names and mugshots of the two suspects due to “age of the arrestee on the date the crime occurred.”
