Two teens killed in domestic violence incident; stepfather shot dead by Harris County deputies

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are releasing new details in a tragic domestic violence incident that left three people dead, including the shooter.

The incident began around 6:50 P.M. on Monday, November 17, 2025, when a woman, identified as Kelly Grigsby, and her five-year-old child ran to a neighbor’s house and called 911 stating there was an ongoing domestic dispute at 103 Christophers Way in Midland, Georgia. The woman told law enforcement the male occupant of the residence was threatening to kill the children and making threats towards law enforcement officers responding to the scene.

When deputies arrived at the residence, they positioned their vehicles to illuminate the front door due to the fact the lights inside the home were turned off. Eric Grigsby then approached them with handguns, ignoring commands to stop and drop the weapons. He pointed the guns at the deputies, and they fired, striking him. Grigsby returned fire, and the deputies continued to shoot until he was down and motionless.

The scene was secured and cleared for additional danger.  As deputies cleared the residence, two bodies were discovered.

A 16-year-old male and a 14-year-old male, later identified, as the stepsons of E. Grigsby had been shot.

The 16-year-old stepson was pronounced deceased at the scene; however, the 14-year-old stepson was not pronounced deceased until after Harris County EMS attempted lifesaving techniques.

Due to the fact the incident was an Officer Involved Shooting, GBI was requested to complete a follow-up investigation.

“This was a tragic Family Violence Shooting resulting in the death of three individuals.  Two teenage young men were shot and killed by their stepfather and the stepfather (E. Grigsby) was shot and killed by Deputies.  The Deputies responded to the scene and did exactly as they were trained.” said Sheriff Mike Jolley

The bodies of Grigsby and the two minors will be taken to the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office where autopsies will be performed, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
