Columbus law enforcement, first responders hosts 12th annual Blue Lights and Smiles

Local law enforcement and first responders hosted its 12th annual Blue Lights and Smiles, an event which benefits sick and injured children having to spend the holidays in the hospital.

The West Georgia Chapter of the Police Benevolent Association hosted the event from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

Law enforcement and other first responders met at Columbus State University’s campus, and conducted a convoy to Bill and Olivia Amos Children’s Hospital.

Hospital staff and patients could be seen shining lights and waving at law enforcement and fire and EMS officials from the playroom once the convoy arrived.

Law enforcement and other officials brought gifts and holiday cheer to hospitalized children, alongside Santa Claus. Claus made a special appearance before he returns to the North Pole to prepare for Christmas.
