A large response is underway by fire officials in Crawford.

The response is for a large brush fire that broke out in the woods behind a home in the 4200 block of U.S. Highway 80 West in the Crawford community of Russell County. CNAW2News.com happened to drive up on the scene and saw heavy smoke and flames coming from a large brush area.

A homeowner could be seen using a garden hose to stop the fire from spreading onto the main property.

As Crawford Volunteer Fire Department crews were arriving, dark black smoke could be seen coming from a boat near a mobile home on the property. It appears the fire never actually made it to the mobile home.

Crawford fire crews were assisted on scene by Ladonia Volunteer Fire Department, Uchee Creek Volunteer Fire Department, Phenix City Fire-Rescue, CARE Ambulance, and Russell County Sheriff’s Office.

No injuries were reported.
