A Phenix City shooting has left a woman dead and a suspect arrested.

The shooting was first reported around 10:55 p.m. eastern time on Sunday, Feb. 15, 2026, in the 100 block of 17th Avenue South.

Phenix City police, fire crews, and medics with CARE Ambulance responded to the scene.

Russell County Coroner Arthur Sumbry Jr. said 52-year-old Contina Robinson was shot and pronounced dead on the scene at 11:49 p.m.

Criminal investigations officials responded to the scene and began conducting a probe into the shooting.

A suspect, identified as 51-year-old Willie James Davis, was arrested and booked into the Russell County Jail at 4:43 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 16, 2026.

Davis is charged with murder. He is being held without bond.

Robinson will be sent to the Alabama Department of of Forensic Science in Montgomery for an autopsy.

This is the first homicide of the year for Russell County. The investigation remains ongoing.
