Opelika police and fire crews, along with Lee County Emergency Management Agency, are on scene of an overturned 18-wheeler.

The crash happened around 4:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Mar. 4, 2026 on Interstate 85 at Exit 58 (Gateway Drive).

The tanker truck overturned and is currently under the overpass. It is unclear if anyone was hurt.

Opelika police say it will take several hours to clean up the crash. The right northbound lane of the interstate is closed while crews work. Please use caution as you travel through the area and expect delays as lanes may be closed throughout the evening.
