Masked suspect breaks into Smiths Station pharmacy, flees with bottle of cough syrup

Authorities are investigating an early morning break-in at a pharmacy in Lee County.

According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 5:30 a.m. Saturday, March 7, 2026, to a glass break alarm at U Save Pharmacy in the 2000 block of Lee Road 430 in Smiths Station.

Deputies arrived within four minutes and discovered the drive-thru window had been broken. Investigators say surveillance video shows an unknown person dressed in dark clothing with their face and hands covered breaking into the pharmacy and attempting to access a controlled substances cabinet.

When the suspect was unable to open the cabinet, they reportedly took one bottle of over-the-counter cough syrup before fleeing through the broken drive-thru window.

The suspect has not been identified.
