Pedestrian struck, killed by pickup truck in Lanett

Lanett police are investigating after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a truck last night.

First responders located the crash around 8:58 p.m. on July 1, 2026, in the 800 block of Veterans Memorial Parkway.

The officer who located the crash immediately initiated life saving measures until Lanett EMS arrived on scene. “Unfortunately, these efforts were unsuccessful,” police said.

The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Chambers County Coroner’s Office. The preliminary investigation revealed that a Ford F-250 was traveling West on VMP when a pedestrian was struck while in the roadway.

The body of the pedestrian was released to a local funeral home.
