Fire crews work to extinguish structure fire in Ladonia

Fire crews in Russell County are on the scene working to extinguish a structure fire.

The fire was first reported to emergency responders around 5:05 a.m. eastern time on Sunday, July 12, 2026.

Volunteer firefighters from Ladonia, Crawford and Uchee Creek fire departments responded to the scene located on Leanne Drive, just off of Highway 80. CARE Ambulance and Russell County Sheriff’s Office were also called to the scene.

CNAW2News is told the fire involved an abandoned structure and was fully involved when crews arrived.

As of 7 a.m., heavy white smoke was seen billowing in the area with several flames spotted along near the roof. Fire crews were seen moving to and from a nearby fire hydrant to fill up tanker trucks to continue fire suppression efforts.

No injuries have been reported so far. Leanne Drive remains closed, while U.S. Highway 80 remains open. Drivers are advised to use caution and slow down if in the area.
