Hogansville Police seek witnesses in Interstate 85 road rage shooting

The Hogansville Police Department is asking for the public’s help as investigators work to identify a suspect involved in a road rage shooting on Interstate 85.

According to police, the shooting occurred Monday, July 13, 2026, between approximately 6 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. on the southbound Interstate 85 Exit 28 off-ramp.

Investigators are searching for a suspect vehicle described as a dark-colored SUV or van displaying South Carolina license plates.

The preliminary investigation indicates the suspect vehicle and a silver passenger car were involved in what appears to have been a road rage incident immediately before the shooting.

The victim suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and is being treated at a local hospital, according to police.

Investigators are asking anyone who was traveling southbound on Interstate 85 near Exit 28 during the time of the incident and witnessed the interaction between the two vehicles to come forward. Police are also seeking anyone with dash camera footage or other information related to the shooting.
