Columbus man killed in overnight shooting, coroner says

A Columbus man has died following an overnight shooting in the city’s Waverly Terrace Historic District neighborhood.

The shooting occurred around 11:49 p.m. on Monday, July 13, 2026 in the 1100 block of Curtis Street.

The victim, later identified as 34-year-old Davon Wallace, was transported to Piedmont Columbus Regional Midtown, where he was pronounced dead at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday from multiple gunshot wounds, according to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan.

This incident comes after several other shootings across the city in recent days. Since July 9, six people have been shot, three of whom died from their injuries.

The Columbus Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit remains investigating.
