Vehicle overturns, damages other vehicles along Alabama Highway 169 in Salem

Multiple first responders are on the scene of an overturned vehicle crash Friday afternoon.

The crash occurred on Alabama Highway 169 just south of Lee Road 201 around 1:53 p.m. on Friday, July 31, 2026.

According to witnesses at a used car dealership, a silver Toyota 4Runner lost two tires near the intersection, leading to four of their vehicles damaged — including a Trolley, a white Fiat, a Grand Marquis and a red Corvette.

The 4Runner eventually landed in a ditch upright. Both occupants were not injured, with at least one occupant being taken into custody by a Lee County deputy on Lee Road 2163 due to multiple warrants.

The detained subject’s identity is unknown. At least one lane of Alabama Highway 169 was closed as officials with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Crawford Volunteer Fire Department, Salem Volunteer Fire Department and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency worked the scene.
