Gunfire damages homes, vehicles and mailboxes during weekend shooting in Troup County

The Troup County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an overnight shooting that damaged multiple homes, vehicles and mailboxes along Woodstream Trail.

Deputies were dispatched at approximately 12:33 a.m. Sunday, August 9, to the 100 block of Woodstream Trail after 911 dispatchers received multiple reports of gunshots being heard in the area and possible reports of people being shot.

As deputies responded, Troup County 911 continued receiving calls about the gunfire. Dispatchers also received reports of several vehicles leaving the area.

When deputies arrived, they determined that no one had been injured by gunfire. Investigators with the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division were then notified.

The investigation continued throughout the morning. Investigators located numerous shell casings in the roadway and determined that several homes, vehicles and mailboxes had been damaged by gunfire.

According to investigators, there appeared to have been a large gathering at a residence on Woodstream Trail. At some point, unknown individuals began firing a gun outside the home.

No arrests have been announced, and the investigation remains active.
