CNAW Newsroom —
Lockdown lifted at Richards Middle, Clubview Elementary after reported safety concern; students and staff safe

Columbus police and Muscogee County School District Police responded Wednesday afternoon to a reported safety concern in the area of Clubview Elementary School and Richards Middle School.

According to a message sent by Richards Middle School to parents and guardians, the Muscogee County School District received information regarding a potential safety concern in the vicinity of the school.

“Out of an abundance of caution,” Richards Middle School said the campus was immediately placed on lockdown while MCSD Police and the Columbus Police Department responded to the situation.

School officials emphasized that the safety and security of students and staff remained their highest priority.

The lockdown has since been lifted, and regular school activities have resumed.

Earlier, officials confirmed to CNAW2News.com that all students and staff were safe.

Authorities have not released additional details about what prompted the response.
