Multiple people have been shot near Legion Field in Birmingham, Alabama, following the 85th annual Magic City Classic on Saturday, October 31, 2026.
According to reporting from AL.com’s Carol Robinson, multiple people were shot at or near Legion Field, with emergency crews responding to an active scene.
At least two rescue units had already left the scene, while additional victims were still being treated in the 300 and 400 blocks of Graymont Avenue, according to Robinson.
Birmingham Fire radio traffic also indicated that multiple victims needed emergency transportation.
In a public service announcement posted on social media at 9:59 p.m. Saturday, the Birmingham Police Department announced that all Magic City Classic tailgating activities had been suspended.
Police instructed everyone to leave the stadium property as soon as possible and urged the public not to come to Legion Field at this time.
The department said it would provide updated information as soon as possible and thanked the public for its cooperation.
The shooting happened following the Magic City Classic, the annual football rivalry between Alabama A&M University and Alabama State University. Alabama A&M defeated Alabama State 31-28 in the 85th edition of the game at Legion Field.
As of Saturday evening, no official information had been released regarding the number of people shot, the extent of their injuries or whether any arrests had been made.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear.
