What is the weather this week in Columbus, Georgia?
Columbus warms to 79 Monday and 81 Tuesday before showers and thunderstorms arrive midweek, with a 74 percent rain chance Wednesday and mornings near 49 by Friday.

The two warmest afternoons of this week are still ahead of us, and both of them fall in November. Columbus is forecast to reach 79 on Monday and 81 on Tuesday, about eight degrees above the normal early-November high of 73, after an afternoon today that only managed 68 under cloud that never broke.
Today's gray has a name forecasters use among themselves: cold air damming, or a wedge. High pressure centered over the Mid-Atlantic is pushing cool, moist air southwest down the eastern side of the Appalachians, and it reaches west Georgia and east Alabama as a stubborn east wind, a low gray deck and patchy light rain. The Peachtree City office trimmed a couple of degrees off this afternoon's highs for exactly that reason. The wedge breaks down tonight, the clouds thin out Monday, and the Valley warms up in a hurry.
The next thing worth planning around is midweek. A low pressure center crossing the Great Lakes will drag a cold front toward the Southeast. Forecasters in Birmingham are watching Tuesday evening in east Alabama for the first round of showers and storms, and while they put the severe threat low, they note that heavy downpours could cause localized flooding. Peachtree City expects between half an inch and an inch and a half of rain across north and central Georgia from Wednesday evening into Saturday, with a few thunderstorms and no widespread severe weather. In Columbus, Wednesday carries a 74 percent rain chance with a high near 79.
For context on how wet the year has been, Columbus finished October with 3.30 inches of rain, a little over half an inch above the monthly normal, and sits at 43.60 inches since January 1 — about three and a half inches ahead of normal.
Behind the front the mornings get noticeably cooler: 49 in Columbus on Friday morning and 47 on Saturday, with Saturday sunny and near 75. If you have outdoor work that needs a dry stretch, Monday and Tuesday are the two days to use it.
