Any address, any day. Up to 9 days out, it’s our forecast. Further out, an extended forecast from 30 years of weather here.
Our automated weather channel is on the air around the clock: the radar, the temperatures, the week ahead — and when a warning hits the Valley, it stays with the storm.
How cold will it be Monday morning at the bus stop in Columbus and LaGrange?
At 7 AM Monday it will be 44 degrees in Columbus and 37 in LaGrange, with the coldest stop in Hogansville at 35 and the mildest in Phenix City at 46.

There is an 11-degree gap across the viewing area at seven o'clock Monday morning, and it falls almost perfectly along a north-south line. The coldest corner is Hogansville, where Callaway's students will be standing out at 35 degrees. The mildest is Phenix City, home of Central-Phenix City, at 46. Everyone in between is somewhere in the 30s and 40s, under a completely clear sky, with no rain anywhere in the area.
The cold end of the list is all up our northern counties. Greenville starts at 36. LaGrange — LaGrange High, Troup County and LaGrange Academy — sits at 37 with no wind at all. Lanett and Springwood over in Chambers County begin at 39, and so does Manchester. Those numbers are low enough that forecasters at the National Weather Service in Peachtree City have flagged the chance of frost across parts of north and west Georgia Monday morning. If you park outside in Hogansville, Greenville or LaGrange, give yourself an extra few minutes for the windshield.
Through the middle of the area the readings cluster in the low 40s. Georgetown, where Quitman County goes to school, and Talbotton, home of Central-Talbotton, both start at 41. Cusseta's Chattahoochee County, Preston's Webster County, LaFayette and Chambers Academy, and Valley and Beulah all begin at 42. Eufaula, Hamilton's Harris County and Butler's Taylor County each start at 43.
Columbus comes in at 44 with a light 5 mph breeze — that covers Shaw, Hardaway, Columbus, Spencer, Kendrick, Jordan, Carver, Northside, Calvary Christian, Pacelli and Brookstone. The same 44 shows up at Clayton's Barbour County, at Booker T. Washington in Tuskegee, at Marion County in Buena Vista, at Randolph Clay in Cuthbert, at Schley County in Ellaville and at Stewart County in Lumpkin.
The warm end is the Alabama side of the line. Auburn and Lee-Scott start at 45, as do Opelika and Beauregard, Loachapoka, Notasulga, Russell County in Seale, and Smiths Station and Glenwood. Phenix City finishes the list at 46.
Why the spread? On a night with clear skies and no wind, the ground radiates its heat straight out to space and cold air settles into the low spots instead of mixing around. Towns tucked into the river and creek valleys north of us drain and pool that chilly air, while pavement and buildings in Columbus, Phenix City and Auburn hold enough warmth to keep readings a few degrees higher.
What kids need Monday: a real zipped jacket, not a windbreaker, especially north of Hamilton — and something they can carry, because the afternoon climbs to 76 in Columbus and nobody is going to want sleeves at dismissal. No umbrella, no gloves, though a hood is not a bad idea in Hogansville and Greenville.
One more thing for anyone waiting in the dark: sunrise Monday is just after 7 AM, and we are losing a little over a minute and a half of daylight every day now on the way to the December solstice. A stop in the shade of a treeline will run colder than the number above until the sun clears it.
No school or town by that name in the viewing area.
Forecast: National Weather Service, 7 AM on each town’s own clock — Central in Alabama, Eastern in Georgia.
