Our automated weather channel is on the air around the clock: the radar, the temperatures, the week ahead — and when a warning hits the Valley, it stays with the storm.
When does the humidity break in Columbus GA this week?
A dry cold front moves through the Chattahoochee Valley on Friday, dropping Columbus from a muggy 80 on Thursday to a 42-degree Saturday morning with a 71-degree afternoon.

The warmest it got in Columbus on Wednesday was 71 degrees, and that reading came at 9 in the morning. The low never fell below 69, which is 20 degrees above normal for the date, and the day as a whole finished 9 degrees warm.
That same soupy air is still over the Valley. The airport is sitting at 70 degrees with a dew point of 69, meaning the air is close to saturated, which is exactly why fog formed overnight. Forecasters at Peachtree City expect patches of dense fog, with visibility down to a quarter mile in spots, to hang on until mid-morning across parts of north and central Georgia, and Birmingham had an advisory of its own through 9 AM, with the worst of it in the western half of their area. On the two-lane roads around Hamilton, Lumpkin and Cuthbert, use low beams and leave extra room.
A cold front is sliding in from the northwest today. Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms shift along and south of Interstate 85 through the afternoon, so Auburn, Opelika, LaGrange and Columbus all have a fair shot at getting wet, with Columbus carrying a 40 percent chance. The Storm Prediction Center has drawn no severe weather areas anywhere in the country today. A high near 80 stays well short of the record for November 5 in Columbus, which is 85 degrees from 1961.
The real change is Friday, when a second front, this one essentially dry, pushes through and strips the moisture out. Rain chances drop to 10 percent or less from Friday into the middle of next week. Friday runs 77 and mostly sunny; Saturday starts near 42 and tops out at 71; Sunday goes 43 to 72.
Birmingham forecasters have medium confidence in frost developing in their area over the coming days, with lows in the mid to upper 30s, so east Alabama gardeners should watch tender plants. One more thing worth knowing: the top couple of inches of soil around Columbus are still near 72 degrees. These mornings will chill the air long before they chill the ground.
