When will it rain in Columbus GA this week?
The heaviest rain and a few gusty storms come through Columbus and the rest of west Georgia and east Alabama on Wednesday, with showers lingering into Friday morning before a much cooler weekend.

Columbus never really cooled off overnight. The low at the Columbus Airport was 64 degrees, which is 14 above the normal low of 50 for November 3, and the afternoon only managed 73 under a gray sky against a normal high of 72. Add it up and the day ran 8 degrees above normal, with nothing more than a trace of rain to show for all those clouds.
That mild, humid air is the fuel for Wednesday. Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Peachtree City expect shower and thunderstorm coverage to increase quickly as a cold front approaches, and Columbus carries an 81 percent rain chance with a high near 79. They do not expect a significant severe weather or flooding threat. What they do flag is a low-end chance of an isolated strong to severe storm with gusty winds, with the better odds of that staying up across northwest Georgia, well north of LaGrange and Hamilton. Closer to home the concern is simply rain volume: downpours heavy enough for nuisance flooding in low-lying spots and places that already drain poorly.
The front then runs out of push. Thursday it stalls roughly along a line from Atlanta to Columbus and barely budges, which keeps shower chances alive into Friday morning, 37 percent Thursday and 17 percent Friday. Most of the rain falls Wednesday and Wednesday night, with another tenth to half an inch possible Thursday into Friday morning. A second, drier front arrives Friday afternoon and shoves the whole system out Friday night.
Then comes the part the Birmingham office summed up as getting the jackets ready. Highs settle to 75 Saturday, 72 Sunday and 71 Monday, and the mornings drop hard: 44 Saturday, 43 Sunday, 41 Monday.
For the year Columbus has collected 43.64 inches of rain against a normal of 40.43 by this date, but the fall has been stingier, 5.70 inches since September 1 where 6.45 is normal. Leave early Wednesday morning and expect standing water in the usual low spots on the way in.
