What is the weekend weather for hiking and parks near Columbus, Georgia?
Saturday is the better day outdoors across the area, with calm, low-60s mornings and afternoons from 71 degrees at F.D. Roosevelt State Park to 77 at Lakepoint State Park in Eufaula, while Sunday turns breezy with rain chances up to 38 percent at Chewacla State Park near Auburn.

If you only get one morning outdoors this weekend, make it Saturday. At 8 AM the wind is 5 miles an hour at every park in the viewing area, the rain chance runs between 3 and 13 percent, and temperatures sit in a narrow band from 60 to 62 degrees. There is almost nothing to plan around.
On the Chattahoochee RiverWalk between Columbus and Phenix City, Saturday starts at 62 degrees under mostly cloudy skies with a 7 percent rain chance, then climbs to 76 by 2 PM with the breeze up to about 10 miles an hour. Chewacla State Park near Auburn matches it almost exactly, 62 in the morning and 75 in the afternoon.
The warm end of the weekend is south. Lakepoint State Park at Eufaula starts at 61 and reaches 77 degrees Saturday afternoon, the warmest number anywhere in this forecast. Providence Canyon near Lumpkin opens cloudy at 62 and gets to 75 by mid afternoon, with the sky breaking to mostly cloudy. If you want short sleeves, Stewart and Barbour counties are where you will find them.
The Pine Mountain ridge plays by its own rules. Callaway Gardens and F.D. Roosevelt State Park both start Saturday at 60 degrees, but by 2 PM the wind picks up to about 15 miles an hour while temperatures only reach 73 at Callaway and 71 at F.D. Roosevelt. A ridge stands above the country around it, so it catches wind the valleys never feel. Out at Dowdell's Knob, with nothing between you and the horizon, that breeze is the difference between comfortable and chilly.
Sunday changes the math. Rain chances climb everywhere as a disturbance moves in from the west, and the mornings start colder and windier. Callaway Gardens and F.D. Roosevelt both open at 57 degrees with a 15 mile an hour wind, the rawest combination of the weekend, with rain chances near 30 and 26 percent. Chewacla near Auburn carries the highest odds in the area, 38 percent at both 8 AM and 2 PM. The RiverWalk runs 60 degrees in the morning and 71 in the afternoon with rain chances near 30 percent. Providence Canyon and Lakepoint hold the best odds of staying dry, in the low to upper 20s for rain chance, and they stay the warmest, near 71 and 72 by mid afternoon.
What to wear: a long-sleeve layer you can shed at 8 AM Saturday, short sleeves by 2 PM anywhere from Lumpkin to Eufaula, and a windbreaker if your Saturday afternoon or any part of Sunday is spent on the Pine Mountain ridge near Warm Springs or Hamilton. Sunday is the day for a packable rain jacket rather than an umbrella, since the same wind that chills you will fight an umbrella the whole way.
One more thing worth planning around: Columbus is down to 10 hours and 57 minutes of daylight and losing a little under two minutes a day, with sunset at 6:51. An afternoon trail that felt generous in September now ends in the dark sooner than you expect, so start back earlier than feels necessary.
Each day, 8 AM → 2 PM.
