Opelika Police need community’s help in identifying woman who used fake $50 bill to pay for Target merchandise

UPDATE!! The suspect in this case has been identified and investigators were able to confirm the individual unknowingly used the fake money at Target. The individual was able to pay for the items originally purchased and the case is now considered closed.

Disregard the following: The Opelika Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect involved in a Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument, First Degree, which occurred at Target, located at 2640 Enterprise Drive.

On December 19, 2022, the suspect purchased merchandise with a fake $50 bill. Surveillance video shows the suspect, a white female wearing an orange Auburn shirt, gray jacket, blue pants, and gray sneakers, leave the store at approximately 9:10 a.m.
