A Muscogee County School District teacher appeared in recorder’s court for her first court appearance following an arrest.

The teacher, identified as Jody Russell, works at Fort Service Learning Magnet Academy as a special education teacher.

Russell is accused of choking a student on-site on November 5, 2025 and is charged with simple battery. Russell was booked into the Muscogee County Jail on November 11, 2025.

Russell appeared in court at 9 a.m. Thursday where the case was bound over to state court due to the nature of the incident.
