Smiths Station firefighters extinguish afternoon shed fire

Smiths Station Fire and Rescue crews extinguished a fire this afternoon.

The fire occurred in the 1900 block of Lee Road 249, which is located in between Lee Road 286 and Lee Road 379, just off of U.S. Highway 280. The fire was reported around 12:55 p.m. eastern time on Friday, March 20, 2026.

Fire officials say the fire only involved a storage shed and did not spread to any additional buildings or structures.

At least one Lee County Emergency Management Agency unit was on the scene, along with fire crews and Smiths Station Fire and Rescue’s medic one ambulance.

The fire was eventually extinguished with no injuries reported.

This was the second fire crews in Smiths Station have responded to today. Earlier, crews extinguished a house fire on Lee Road 211.
