Fire crews work to extinguish midday house fire in Ladonia

Fire crews are working to extinguish a blaze midday Wednesday in Ladonia.

Crawford, Ladonia, and Uchee Creek volunteer fire departments responded to the fire around 11:50 a.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2026. The fire broke out at a home near the intersection of Hickory Street and Laurel Street, which is located off of busy Woodland Drive.

Smiths Station Fire Chief Blake Green was spotted on the scene assisting fire crews, along with deputies from Russell County Sheriff’s Office and medial personnel from Haynes Ambulance.

The fire was seen rising from the back of the home and the roof. It appears firefighters are using water to extinguish the blaze and fans to ventilate the structure.

The property owner told CNAW2News.com all occupants made it out safely and no injuries have been reported.

While crews work in the area, the area has been closed to assist with fire operations. Drivers are asked to avoid the area.
